Bay Laurel (Sweet Bay) Laurus nobilis
Aromatic evergreen tree or large shrub. Leaves hold the fragrance of victors and poets.
Use to flavour rice puddings, custard sauce and medicine.
An ingredient in bouquet garni with parsley and thyme.
Antiseptic, analgesic, anti neuralgic, anti infectious, general stimulant.
Encourages confidence, fortitude, inspiration, protection, gift of prophecy, direction and creativity.
Clears away confusion, protects and gives inspiration in times of despair.
A fragrance to use when the way ahead seems uncertain or fraught with danger,
when impoverished thoughts fly silently through the night to disturb us.
Tea for colds – equal amount cinnamon, sage, bay leaves. Steep. Add a little lemon juice.
Avoid during pregnancy.
