Dr. Rogers
stands at the barrier
willing the ferry to come,
influence
prestige and power
will never bring it in.
Mayor Milne joins him
consultation, head shaking,
decision comes down,
their important appointments
will just have to wait.
Three elderly voices
discuss the situation,
his wife walked onto
the small walk-on ferry
to catch a taxi
to her doctor appointment.
He hopes they will
find each other again.
One cockney accent
has answers
for all BC Ferry problems.
Facts, dates, names,
and a voice
to match his wealth
of knowledge.
Hand shaking, friendly waves
heading for cars.
The ferry is arriving,
who will get on this one.

Sitting in the ferry line-up after the scheduled ferry had engine trouble. BMW’s,VW’s,pick up trucks, hikers, politicians, lawyers, doctors, all waiting for the same boat. It struck me, no one is anymore important here, we are all equal in our predicament and our hope to get to the other side. Thanks for asking. 😉
