Another Bad Investment

I can hear the logging truck
loading logs next door.
Quite a stack of cedar
they’ll get a good price for.

But money will never compensate
for the oxygen, soil stability,
shade, beauty, habitat
those trees provided.

Wrong thinking there
to exchange all of that
for paper printed
to look like something
more valuable.

When money no longer holds any value,
those trees will be missed terribly.

Another bad investment.

It’s a young couple with a dream much like ours, self sufficiency, so they need sun to grow their garden. We’ll
cheer them on. 😉 Yes, some day they will wish they had left more trees but what can you do?
