No Hail Mary Pass

What kind of god did you believe in
who would forgive what is unforgivable?

What kind of place did you worship in
that did not deal with evil within its own walls?

What kind of leaders gave you power over the powerless
and turned blind eyes to thieves in the night
who stole the souls of children?

How many prayers, beads or penances
can restore what has been lost forever?

Mary, Mother of God,
have mercy on those whose faith has been shattered
beyond belief.
