Grandma Tree Top Finally Visible

Grandma Tree is an old growth Douglas fir tree on our acreage. It is 800 to 900 years old and about 150 feet tall to the now visible tip. The top was broken when we moved here over 40 years ago. Side branches had grown straight up to become leaders so this tip of the tree was not visible. Recent winds have taken a toll on the old girl and a couple of top branches have broken off. We’re hoping the eagles will see it as a good place to pose for us to take photographs of them.

That’s what we’re hoping. They fly over us often, getting the ravens in a frenzy, but rarely land.
