Sometimes I wonder why
you seemed to take so long
to send a saviour to our earth
when things had gone so wrong.
So many years of killing,
and terror for the young.
So much hate, destruction,
so little hope left hung
upon a star.
Some of us were watching
and noticed when you came
some knew where to find you
and some even knew your name.
It’s been such a long time since,
we now hang our heads in shame
for after all you did for peace
it seems we’re still the same.
And I wonder why you’re waiting
and what you are waiting for.
If you’ll soon stop all this dying,
all this terror like before.
Will you light a star to guide us
will you bring us peace again,
will we know where we can find you and
I wonder, will we know your name.

That may be true, Heather, but we’re not doing too good a job of it then, are we, if we believe what we hear on the
daily news. But maybe if each let our inner star shine in spite of chaos, fear and pain, maybe. . .

Lovely poem, Hernibs, and such heartfelt thoughts. I am with you and will be looking for the star. Sometimes, though, I wonder if the star is inside each of us and we only need to find our own inner star and let it shine. Maybe the Saviour this time is within!
