It’s the Garden of Eden after the fall,
with beauty, beasts, mosquitoes and all.
We weren’t content with perfection back then
oh how I wish we could do it again.
I’d stifle those voices of discontent
that wooed me and charmed me to be hell bent
when all I had to do, I know
was stomp on that snake and say ‘Thank you, NO!’
So we do our best with the imperfect now
still trying to make amends somehow,
knowing one day we’ll be back at that place
where all life is simple, living in grace,
recreating the garden we left long ago
where peace and love and beauty grow.
