Reverse Struggle

I’m like a moth
struggling to become a caterpillar.

It doesn’t happen that way, I know
but I still must try to reverse
the birth of someone who
never existed until
she flew away.

Now that I know how to fly,
now that I see the world
as it really is,
now that I know

I want to wrap myself into
a cocoon
safe,
soft,
peaceful.

I do not need to fly
or see more,
I need only to be
what I am,
where I am.
