Life Felt So Normal Right Then

Standing on the Sechelt pier,
licking a vanilla ice cream waffle cone
beside the love of my life,
we forgot about masks, distancing, shots and covid
for a few lovely moments.

The beach, the water, the colours, the fresh air
and the taste of vanilla ice cream –
none of that has changed,
and will remain
no matter
what else
we have to go back to
when our ice cream is finished.
