One Pea

One shrivelled, dried out pea
patted into dark rich soil
wakes,
sprouts,
grows to one strong vine
holding lots of pea pods
and each pod wraps around
numerous peas.

A lovely example
of abundance –
sow a seed,
reap a harvest.

This principle plays out
in many areas of life –
sow fear
reap panic;

sow calm
reap peace;

sow distrust
reap chaos;

sow acceptance
reap unity.

What we sow
multiplies manyfold
and can build up
or tear down
relationships, families
and nations.
