Dawn Chorus Off Key

Dawn chorus welcomes a brand new day,
‘Good morning, Good morning,”
the birds seem to say,

And then some human gets on the line,
with grating complaint
and pitiful whine.

I’ve not heard a bird
sound quite as bitter
as he who can only
tweet or twitter.
