Rhubarb Is Awake

Rhubarb is awake

Dreaming of rhubarb pie, stewed rhubarb (stupid barb is what we call it) mmm
Tea from boiled leaves keeps club root from brassicas and black spot off roses.
Fruit stalks are mildly laxative, rich in potassium, vitamin C and fibre used as a spring tonic with a tart flavour caused by non toxic malic acid.
Makes yummy pies, jellies, jams, wine and ‘stupid barb’ sauce.
The raw or cooked leaves are poisonous to humans and livestock if consumed in large enough amounts.
