We lit a fire in elder daughter’s fire pit, bundled up and sat out under the stars watching the solar eclipse last night. There’s something magical sitting in dark coldness with a crackling fire at your feet. Coyotes howled at the back of our acreage and one barred owl called out really close by. We heard, but didn’t see. geese flying over. The moon was behind a maple tree at first but moved into clear sky near the end of the eclipse. I was more intrigued with a blue orb that seemed to dance and zing around, which I could only see through my camera lens. It showed up in several of my shots. I don’t know what it was but it added to the drama of the whole evening.

It was a magical few hours I’m so glad I didn’t miss. So easy to stay inside warm and cozy rather than take a few minutes of adventure.

I had to go out with the dog later and there was a brilliant circle of light around the moon! It was magical last night. Better for you without all the city lights!
