Years I spent
typing out my words
on an Underwood typewriter
with carbon paper between the pages,
folding, sealing, stamping, mailing
waiting.
Waiting to hear
from publisher,
editor, friend.
I had to include stamps
for my own rejection slips.
NOW
I sit in my pajama,
coffee mug in hand
computer screen showing
someone likes what I posted.
Acceptance
is no longer about payment.
Poetry can fly around the world
without stamps.
And rejection is no longer felt
as someone deletes my sentiment.
