Mouse Plant Arisarum proboscideum
Arum lily family. Low growing ground cover. Herbaceous wood lander from South of France. Flowers early Spring. Sitting just below the leaf canopy is the real interest.
Tubular vertical spathe – 1” wide and 1” tall, white with reddish-brown stripes on the lower half and reddish-brown on the upper half. The reddish-brown colour runs up the length of the filamentous tip which rises from the flower to around 6” high – enough to take it well above the foliage. Looks like little mice with long tails. A dear friend gave us a root from her garden in 1975 and we still have little mice in our flower bed.
