Hologram Life

Projecting what we want to see
on backgrounds of our choosing,
we know it’s not reality
but we’re so afraid of losing
we’d rather gaze upon a life
we think that we’ve created
than face what is
because what is
is highly over rated.

But then a power surge negates
all we’ve been gazing on,
that dream, that life, that universe
is simply gone,
it’s gone.

So here we are, left all alone
looking for purpose or sense,
trying to live our hologram life
without the power of recompense.
