If radio’s slim fingers can pluck a melody
out of the night and toss it over mountains and the sea;
if the petal-white notes from a violin
are blown across the desert and the ditty’s din;
if songs, like crimson roses, are caught from thin blue air-
why should mortals wonder if God hears prayer?
