Just A Poet

I am just a poet
not a spinner of yarns,
my characters hold
love and hope in their arms.

Concise and spartan
my words on the page,
not padded with phrases
that try to sound sage.

Between words and pictures
with truths meant for all
telling more stories
than books I recall.

Mystery and terror tales
all take their toll
but cadence and rhythm
speak right to the soul.
