Because We Are Human

Let the house decay and the grass grow tall
that is not what matters at all.
So many people do not have a home
or even a shelter to call their own,
never enough food to eat,
work or money or shoes on their feet
while we obsess with our latest collection
searching for everlasting perfection
we accumulate more than we’ll ever use
and when asked why, our only excuse,
because we are human.
