Early Morning Illusions

Pink has disappeared.
Did I really see it.
Silhouettes darken while
smoke from my chimney
wisps downhill in ghostly patches.

I can see the straight line
where mountain meets sky
in the distance.

Woodpecker rat-tat-tat nearby
gets a squeaky door sound in response.
Roosters are quiet now
must be an owl around.
