Homemade Lumber

This is taking self – sufficiency to a whole new level for us.  Today we tackled the pile of old cedar logs that have been lying around for some time, windfalls from winter storms, and made them into beautiful boards using our new Woodland Mill. It was like magic to see the transformation from log to lumber with beautiful grain and amazing scent.  Very satisfying day for Hisnibs I’d say.

Feels so good to use something rather than let it go to waste. It must make you both very happy! Well done!!

Thanks Jeannie. We never dreamed we could make our own lumber. Now we can build more creative spaces and beautiful things. 😉

How self-sufficient and using what you’ve been given to the best advantage! I love stuff like this–and I agree, the smell of fresh milled cedar has to be wonderful! Good for you guys!! 🙂

He has lots of projects planned to use the lumber, from woodwork to out buildings. And just to recycle the fallen trees is satisfying rather than letting them rot.
