Writing In The Tub

I’ve never done this before.
I’ve read in the tub, sang in the tub,
eaten in the tub, slept in the tub
but never written in the tub.
I see why, it is a little tricky,
especially if your hands are wet.
I always get inspired thoughts
when I have my long hot soaks
in our six-foot-long claw foot tub
in our bright yellow bathroom
with windows that show tree tips
and sky.
Here I soak
contemplating the past
and sending out gratitude
for how we have evolved
in almost forty years.
