Mountains, maybe,
or the inlet,
bigger sky.
Beauty at a distance
is called
‘view property.’
It will come soon enough.
A view of a different sort
than we now have.
For now
beauty crowds around us closely,
cedar, fir, hemlock, alder, maple,
ferns, huckleberries, brambles,
fruit trees, nut trees, salal, Oregon grape –
all much more beautiful
than
any distant view.

Such beauty in the forest. Such gifts in the garden. Yes, it is “Hard to Come By”.
