Back to the good old days. . .

For a few days we were right back to the 70’s again when all we had for light was a kerosene lamp, candles and a flashlight.  All we had for heat was our wood stove and the only water was what we had in the kettle and water in the rain barrel for flushing the toilet.  Fortunately the power outage didn’t last long and we were able to figure out how to run the well pump with our small Honda generator for more water.  I guess our eyes were much better back then because I couldn’t read with the lamp at all and doing a jigsaw puzzle with candles all over it was quite a challenge.  Hydro was here for several hours the second day of the outage cutting the tree off the lines and repairing some of the power lines.  But we are back on the grid again and thankful for every convenience.  We know we can survive without it but prefer not to.

Not as much fun as it used to be. 😉 Raining torrents here. All the rain barrels are full to the brim again. 😉

Glad your power is back! We know what that’s like for sure.
