On Reading “Ten Thousand Sorrows” by Elizabeth Kim

I cried and cried.
Cruelty in the name of Jesus,
murder in the name of honour,
brutality in the name of marriage.
But she survived and she grew
and learned the heart lessons of her life.
I want to write her and thank her
for sharing her ten thousand sorrows
and wish her now
ten thousand joys.
It gave me courage to open the gate to my heart again
and the desire to bravely share the truth
about who I am
and what I’ve learned.
