Easter Is Not

. . . chocolate rabbits,
peeps or eggs,
turkey dinner,
white meat or legs,
family all together once more
eating, talking, family lore.

It isn’t church
or sunrise songs,
bonnets, baskets,
rights or wrongs.

So what is Easter
if not all these things.
Easter is the hope
that a promise brings.

New life, a new chance,
a brand new start.
Explosions of purpose
that  sprout from the heart.
