Our Job Now

It isn’t easy letting go of our kids.
Daily phone calls fade into weekly or monthly.
No need to lay guilt or blame,
because we’re pleased they are happy and busy.
Pray for them when we start to feel lonely.
That’s our job now,
slowly removing ourselves from their lives.
They need to know it’s OK.
They can make it on their own
and we’ll clap as they fly.
