I don’t need a diagnosis
to tell me that I’m sick
and I don’t need medication
to fool me that I’m fixed.
I know I’ve got some problems
I have had them for awhile
and I’ve gone through tests and pep talks
pills and books, look at my file.
I have lived my life with illness
first my mother’s and now mine
but won’t bore you with the details
‘cuz I haven’t got the time.
I have years ahead to plan for
things to do while I’m still sane
so I’ll bid goodbye to doctors,
I will not go there again.
Life’s too short to chase the reasons
for the things we can’t explain
I’ll just live while life will have me
then I’ll go and not complain.
