When the voices inside your head
are louder, more insistent
than the voices outside of you
you know you have to listen to them.
They are trying to tell you something
you need to hear.
Artists and writers
listen well to their other voices
but when fear blocks listening
or when those voices turn against us
plotting destruction
then we have crossed the line of sanity,
I think.
What do I know,
I’m certainly not an expert on sanity
but I do know
what those voices
sound like.

It has taken me many, many years to learn to listen and know what those voices are. Some are my mother’s voice, some the voice of past memories, and yes, some are intuition, for sure.

Sometimes rebranding those voices helps: are they voices in your head or are they “gut feelings”?
