Davis Bay Sea walk
Walking the sea walk.
Two elderly women approach,
their small terrier
runs across the path,
leash blocking my way.
One calls out loudly
to the other,
who pulls up the dog
and lets me pass.
The old dog sniffs my hand
I pat it, then speak to it.
“She’s old and very deaf,”
says the one with the leash.
“But her eyes and nose work fine,”
smiles the other.
“Well then she’s still capable of enjoying life,”
I answer as we walk on,
smiling at the realization
that pertains
to all four of us.

I’ll take that as a compliment. 😉 The hard part is refusing to get complicated. Not as simple as it looks.
