It’s good for us to share our paradise,
though it does feel strange
to see someone walk past the window
when we’re so used to being here alone.
May the peace that we enjoy
move into their harried thoughts,
slow their steps,
open their ears
to all there is to hear
in the silence of the woods.
Robins assuring fledglings,
towhees throwing dried leaves around,
ravens calling to each other
high in the cedars.
Let nature fill their ears
and their hearts.
May their muscles relax
and a wonderful lethargy seize them
as they sink deeper
into paradise
with us.
