Cherry trees don new white dresses,
yellow daffodils nod approval at their feet.
Pink flowering currant add shocking contrast
to all that white and yellow.
Sky blue forget-me-nots creep along,
looking for inconspicuous places to bloom.
The first row of peas emerge, healthy and straight.
Comfrey leaves and asparagus tips
seem to compete,
who will be tallest by May 1.
Soon a taste of asparagus for lunch
and rhubarb pies for dessert.
When the plum and apple trees get dressed
we will take some pictures.
