An Unearthly Hour

Sunbeams dance into my room
as tiny fairies shining,
songs of robins on the lawn,
somewhere a dog is whining.

The house is still and quiet
not another being stirring,
what a lovely time of day
before my world starts whirring.

Although it’s barely morning,
could have slept an hour more,
I like to creep out of  bed,
stand just inside the open door.

The air is fresh, still and new,
mother robin homeward flies.
My day begins in beauty as
I watch the morning sun arise.

These quiet moments of my day
my thoughts come much more clearly,
six a.m., an unearthly hour,
unearthly hours I love dearly.
